My name is Danika (Duh-KNEE-kuh), and I’ve been with Washoe County since 2019, serving as an epidemiologist at Northern Nevada Public Health. I work closely with local partners to support data-informed planning and translate data into action for better community health. I bring over a decade of public service experience, from local to state, and previously served on the executive board of the Nevada Public Health Association. I’m passionate about advocacy, equity, and helping others feel supported and heard. County employees do hard, often thankless work on behalf of the public, and they deserve representation that reflects that commitment. WCEA has supported me personally, including a scholarship during my PhD, and I’m honored for the chance to give back. I’m excited to bring an analytical and pragmatic perspective to the WCEA Board, grounded in facts, data and real-world problem-solving.
Outside of work, I collaborate on research projects with the University of Nevada, Reno. I’m also a mom of three, wife to my high school sweetheart of nearly 20 years, and an enthusiastic self-taught baker, cake designing included.
I’m grateful to serve on the WCEA Board and look forward to contributing in every way I can.
